The TBR Dungeon
The System has selected you. Congratulations, crawler.
You wake up wearing nothing but white boxer shorts covered in little red hearts. A snarky AI voice informs you that you’ve been selected to descend into the dungeon. Your weapon? Books. Your enemy? Your own indecision. Welcome to The TBR Dungeon.
The Premise
Inspired by the world of Dungeon Crawler Carl, The TBR Dungeon drops you into a three-floor dungeon where every space is a reading encounter. Your player token — yes, the one in the boxer shorts — navigates 42 spaces across increasingly dangerous floors while the System AI delivers snarky commentary on your every decision.
“Oh, you picked that book? Bold. Stupid, but bold.”
The goal is simple: survive the dungeon and emerge with a reading list you’ll actually want to tackle. The execution is anything but.
How It Works
- 3 floors, 42 spaces — descend deeper as the encounters get harder and the stakes get higher
- 7 space types — Mob, Loot, Boss, Princess Donut, Safe Room, Achievement, and Stairwell, each with unique mechanics
- 14 unique bosses — face The Hoarder, The Algorithm, The DNF Pile, The Inner Critic, and more, each designed to mess with your reading list
- 600+ cards across multiple decks — no two runs play the same
- 3 difficulty levels — Easy (4–8 books), Normal (6–10 books), Hard (8–16 books)
- ~20–30 minute sessions — short enough to fit between chapters
