Bibliomancer

Every spell has a spine. Every page has power.

You descend into the library. Not the kind with comfy chairs and a late fee — the kind with monsters between the shelves and spells bound in paperback. You draw your first card. It crackles with genre magic. The Overdue Golem stirs on the floor below. Welcome to Bibliomancer, where every spell you cast is a book you commit to reading.

The Premise

Bibliomancer is a roguelike deckbuilder set in a procedurally generated library dungeon. You fight your way through three floors of increasingly dangerous encounters, building a spell deck drawn from six literary genre schools — Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Horror, Sci-Fi, and Non-Fiction. The twist: every card you add to your deck requires a real book title. Win the run, and you walk out with a battle-tested reading list forged in dungeon fire.

“The Overdue Golem grows stronger with every turn you waste. Choose your next spell wisely — and the book that powers it.”

The deeper you go, the harder the choices get.

How It Works

  • 3 floors of procedural dungeon — explore tile-by-tile with fog of war, branching paths, and hidden treasure rooms
  • 6 genre schools — Fantasy deals damage, Mystery draws cards, Romance heals, Horror poisons, Sci-Fi generates energy, Non-Fiction buffs your stats
  • Genre synergies — collect 3+ cards from the same school to unlock powerful combo effects
  • 3 bosses — face The Overdue Golem, The Plagiarist, and The Blank Page, each with unique mechanics
  • 15 relics — passive artifacts like the Dusty Bookmark, Reading Glasses, and Inkwell that reshape your strategy
  • Card upgrades — rest at campfires to heal or upgrade your spell cards between floors
  • ~30-60 minute runs — a full dungeon crawl in one sitting
